I spent three weeks in Amsterdam learning about the city’s implementation of Doughnut Economics, an alternative economic model they recently embraced to center social and ecological wellbeing as a foundation for sustainable development. During this time, I volunteered at de KasKantine, an off-grid urban farm and educational climate space, helping them run their weekly food waste markets as well as in the garden. I also interviewed people of all backgrounds and will be working with the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences to produce a report of my findings.
